Split Window vs. Crashing

Right now, there are a bunch of bugs related to split windows:

This feature has been buggy for a while. Considering the next release is Oct. 23rd, I’m inclined to disable the “split horizontal” and “split vertical” feature (i.e., no crashes because you can’t split).

The question is whether anyone relies on this so much that they’d rather leave it enabled.

I would obviously re-enable as soon as I can work through the crashes.

Unless the feature has got more buggy since 1.100 then I’m not sure it hurts all that much to leave it in? If it was the 2.0 release I’d have agreed but while it’s still technically beta it seems ok as long as it hasn’t regressed, because no previous expectations are being broken

I have also been experiencing challenges when exporting a molecule in PNG format; the software keeps freezing.

Hi - this looks like a separate bug report. Can you be much more specific:

  • what version of Avogadro you’re using
  • what OS version
  • exactly what steps you’re doing

Exporting a graphic literally saves the current frame buffer, so it’s not obvious why there would be a freeze.
