On how the saved .svg images look

I am saving .svg files to include in a plot I am making. The images in the .svg look different (no 3D effects) than what they look in Avogadro. They have grown into me during the time it’s taken me to write this post but still wanted to know if how the .svg looks is by design or there’s something faulty in my Avogadro (1.103, MacOS) or my Inkscape.

It’s by design. Many people said they wanted a more “flat” look for SVG for publications. I can imagine adding some gradients to the circles (to look more sphere-like) but it would be very hard to replicate the full 3D effects in SVG.

That said, I’d definitely be open to ideas to make a more “realistic” option for SVG export.
