New About Screen?

I’ve been going through with light + dark theme looking for parts of the interface that need some tweaking (e.g., the spectra window)

I think the About (Splash) screen needs some love. Thoughts? (this one is in dark and light forms in SVG format with transparent backgrounds)

Would it be better to have a range of different molecules and rendering styles?

Basically if anyone has good ideas / graphics for the about screen, I’d appreciate it.

We also should update the web links appropriately.

No fabulous ideas right now for the images but how about using a subscript 2 to make it a bit more chemically?

I kinda like the idea that it’s to the 2nd power. And don’t we have dications?

I updated for now - if only to take away the link to openchemistry.org and replace with https://two.avogadro.cc (which incdentally will remain even after the release. I’ll probably just forward avogadro.cc to two.avogadro.cc for a while).

But maybe we should make some square stickers that have the “A” logo in a periodic-table frame like an element?

In any case, I’m still open to future ideas - I know plenty of apps will change up their about screen or splash screen with major releases.

I think it would be good to draw inspiration from OpenBabel in this case:

Perhaps another aquatic animal would be good? I know the horseshoe crab is seriously underrepresented.

Jokes aside, I think what you’ve proposed is good, and I definitely think some square stickers like in the periodic table would be good. Definitely would be good for an event like an ACS conference.
