Localization

Hi all.

Since about one week, I can no longer get a localized version of
Avogadro:
the only french translations I can see are those coming from tr
instructions
present in include files. This is on a Mac, whatever the hardware,
compiled
with cmake 2.6 and QT 2.4.0, latest trunk version.

I would like to know if this has any relation to the recent
introduction of
po files. Has anyone similar problems with other languages?

Cheers

Here also, “LANG=fr avogadro” does no longer load the french translations.
This seems to happen only with french: “LANG=de avogadro” does load the
german translations.

Good luck,

Benoit

The german version still uses the QT linguist synthax. Portuguese
do not work.

German:
Avogadro::AboutDialog

Note the difference in line numbers.

Forgive the poor line breaks: this is cut and paste.

So what you’re saying is that the po2ts conversion doesn’t work,
correct?

Louis, you mentioned the difference in the TS syntax. That may also be
caused by the difference in the PO file “context.” Could you try
downloading a PO file from Launchpad and editing?

e.g.

#: avogadro/src/aboutdialog.cpp:56

becomes

#: Avogadro::AboutDialog

Then if you re-run po2ts, do you get a better result? I’m trying to
figure out if the problem is with po2ts or the generation of the PO
template itself. Either way, it should be fixable.

Thanks,
-Geoff

Geoff.

I did exactly that on last sunday. Downloaded all po files from
Launchpad.

Following Benoît’s remark, I genarated a de.ts file from the po one:
everithing is now in english with LANG=de.

There seems to be many “context” in this section while there is only
one in the current german ts file.

So what you’re saying is that the po2ts conversion doesn’t work,
correct?

I am shure of nothing.

I tried that or something very similar. I also sent a bug report
about that, but last week-end, there were strange things going.
I only received my own lessage 2 days later. So I will resend
it separately and you can tell me if it correpnds to your
suggestion.

Louis

Geoff.

That is it.

The Launchpad po files contain no “context”.

I just generated a fake pot file using a working ts file
from trunk version 1495. Then copied to .po, back to
ts and released in Linguist. Woks just fine.

My pot file has "context"s.
So does that on Lauchpad.
