I can't see ORCA input file generator.

I believe this to be a bug with Avogadro:
(Please describe your bug or issue) I can’t occur orca input file. I can’ see the section for creating an ORCA input file in the input area. I downloaded Phyton3 and installed avogenarators but I don’t still orca

Environment Information

Avogadro version: Avogadro2 1.102.1
Operating system and version: macOS Tahoe 26.0.1

Expected Behavior

I expect to see orca input generator.

Actual Behavior

I can’t see orca input generator

Steps to Reproduce

After drawing the molecule in Avogadro, I can’t create an ORCA input file. To solve the problem, I installed Python 3. Then, from the “Download Plugins” section in Avogadro, I installed the avogenerator plugin, but I still don’t see the option to create an ORCA input file in the Input section.

Yes, it was also reported yesterday.

The macOS build for Apple Silicon should be this one and for Intel Macs, it’s this one.

Please let us know either way if that fixes the problem for you.

I tried the macOS build for Apple Silicon, but the problem still is not solved.

Can you run from the Terminal.app, like:
/Applications/Avogadro2.app/Contents/MacOS/Avogadro2

Then paste the output for me to look at?

I’d also be interested if you can paste the result of:

ls -lt ~/Library/Application\ Support/OpenChemistry/Avogadro/.pixi
ls -lt ~/Library/Application\ Support/OpenChemistry/Avogadro/pyproject.toml

When I enter /Applications/Avogadro2.app/Contents/MacOS/Avogadro2

Something really weird happened for you. It’s like it started to create the pixi environment, but stopped.

I can add some code to detect this situation for others, but in the meantime, try this:

If you want to use pixi to run and install scripts for Avogadro (my recommendation)

cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/OpenChemistry/Avogadro/
/Applications/Avogadro.app/Contents/MacOS/pixi install

If you want to use the Python 3 you installed yourself:

cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/OpenChemistry/Avogadro
rmdir .pixi

That should do it. The build you just installed checks for that .pixi directory, but doesn’t (yet) check to make sure it has python inside it.

And thanks for your help getting to the bottom of this one!

Thank you for your helping but first method gives error /Applications/Avogadro.app/Contents/MacOS/pixi install

zsh: no such file or directory: /Applications/Avogadro.app/Contents/MacOS/pixi. The second method is fine. I can work with orca input file.

Yeah, sorry about that - typo - should have been Avogadro2.app

Glad it works for you - I’ll make sure to include some better detection code.
