Google Season of Docs

We’ve participated for many years in Google Summer of Code.

Google also sponsors "Season of Docs:"

Google Season of Docs provides support for open source projects to improve their documentation and gives professional technical writers an opportunity to gain experience in open source. Together we raise awareness of open source, of docs, and of technical writing.

Accepted organizations will receive between US$5,000 and US$15,000 to use for a documentation project.

I can think of a few potentially useful projects:

Ideas? Suggestions?

We’ll also need to come up with some metrics … so ideas are welcome there too.

@ghutchis So this year (2024) you will be participating in both Google Summer of Code and Google Season of Docs?

You misunderstand how this works.

We will apply. No organization knows if they will be participating in anything until Google announces which orgs are selected … usually in late March.

I can hope that we will continue to participate in GSoC. But that’s not guaranteed at all. No org is guaranteed in any given year.

As for Season of Docs, I’m certainly interested, but there are far fewer orgs in Season of Docs, and we’ve never even applied, much less been selected.
