Blue Obelisk software adoption continues apace in the wider world
outside the chemistry community, as shown by this quote from the
latest Linux Format describing the contents of their cover DVD:

“Also on this month’s DVD we have a full collection of the best new
Open Source Releases…We have a few specialist programs: Avogadro,
… The first is a molecular editor that lets us piece together atoms
to create chemicals. Using OpenGL, Avogadro shows molecules in all
their 3D glory; it’s built on the OpenBabel library which lets it
import a variety of chemical file formats. We include the latest
source code on our DVD - you’ll need the Qt development headers to
build it, along with Eigen and the afore-mentioned OpenBabel (see
dependencies folder).”

That is great news, I am still a subscriber (just) and my copy should be back
in England. Hopefully I will get it at Christmas when my wife comes over with
a care package :wink:
