Custom colors

Hi,

The custom color feature is nice but only one color can be used. First
I thought this was a bug but it’s actually a consequence of how color
plugins are used. Only one set of instances exist at a point in time.

For some colors without settings, this is not an issue. For other
color plugins it would make sense to let an engine own a color once it
is set. The easiest way to implement would be to let an engine always
own the color.

A use case would be: Two aliged molecules (e.g. ligands, conformers,
…) one colored red and the other green.

Any thoughts on this?

  1. In selectrotatetool it’s possible to choose custom color for individual atom.
  2. This functionality can be extended to support multiple selected atoms at once
  3. There’s a select mode “Molecule”
  4. ???
  5. profit!
