Summary: Complementary 2D editor is needed
Initial Comment:
To be “the best possible molecular editor”, Avogadro needs integrated or affiliated 2D editor with possibility to transfer molecule there and back through GUI without need to save it
Of course, this wish is for distant future 
There is one Qt-based 2D editor (XDrawChem) but it wasn’t ported to Qt4 and seems to be not active
