I believe this to be a bug with Avogadro
Avogadro version: 1.93.0
Operating system and version: Ubuntu 20.04
Expected Behavior
The filed saved using Avogadro should open by Avogadro
Actual Behavior
Avogadro cannot open the files gives error no molecule node found
Steps to Reproduce
Saving the file and opening the file
I don’t know why it has a CML extension - this is a CJSON file. If you change the extension to aa.cjson, you should be fine.
Can you tell me how you saved it (i.e., why it has a CML extension)?
Sorry was a little busy didn’t see the reply actually I just did a save as and saved it in the default CML format
I had this issue as well. Using PopOS (Ubuntu 20.10). Now I just rename the file to *.cjson.
Yep, this approach has proven effective for me too.
Yes. The next release will ensure there is always an extension and if not, add .cjson for you.
We may also deprecate CML files before 2.0 as well.
