Avogadro at my school

Moin folks

I have got good news! Yesterday, I showed chem-file [1] and Avogadro
to a couple of colleagues at my school. They really really liked it.
Avogadro is already installed on some machines and will be put on the
new image we’ll create in a couple of days/weeks. That would mean ALL
computers in our school have it installed by default!

The only “issue” is that we would install 0.2.0 and miss all the
exiting new stuff in trunk  So in case somebody feels like
releasing 0.2.1 with some more (stable) features…

This shows that Avo is clearly going into the right direction is
already a real alternative at schools to commercial or other
free-as-in-beer software.

There is a snapshot from 2007-11-15. I also think we should continue
to put up snapshots every month (i.e., 2007-12-01, 2008-01-01), etc.

I think it would be great if we could polish up a few things to have
0.3.0 come out before the end of the year too. Certainly some of
Marcus’s new render engines are in good shape, but I’d love to see
some simple surface support too. And while I’m dreaming, I’ll wish for
new color schemes.
