Avogadro 2 not opening

After downloading two plugins Avogenerators and Molecules in Avogadro 2, the program no longer opens.
When I run the program, “Avogadro 2” appears in the Task Manager, but no window opens, and it takes a very long time before the window finally appears. In other words, it can simply be described as “not opening.”

Even uninstalling Avogadro using the uninstall tool does not resolve the issue, and the problem only disappears after completely removing the OpenChemistry folder from AppData.

But I want to use these plugins!!

Which plugins did you install? Do you have Python installed or do you install it from the dialog in Avogadro? Thanks

I have installed three plugins — “avogenerators,” “molecules,” and “crystals” — from the dialog in Avogadro 2. I am currently using Python 3.14, and I also tested the program on another laptop with Python 3.13.9, which resulted in the same lag. I am wondering whether having more plugins installed could be causing Avogadro to lag when opening.

All of these are actually included in the release.

Try a continuous release: https://github.com/OpenChemistry/avogadrolibs/releases/download/continuous/Avogadro2-continuous-win64.exe

There have been a few changes that should help with that. But I’d be particularly curious if there’s a major slowdown whether you have the avogenerators installed or not. (As I said, they’re all included in the release, but it’s possible there’s a bug dealing with them as an installed plugin.)
