Avogadro 1.95 in Ubuntu 22.04

I believe this to be a bug with Avogadro for Linux

Environment Information

Avogadro version:1.95
Operating system and version:Ubuntu 22.04

Expected Behavior

Animation button present under Extensions or anywhere

Actual Behavior

Unable to display multiple frames of a .xyz file

Steps to Reproduce

Open Avogadro and click on extensions
Please upload files if appropriate here (or via file-sharing service like Dropbox or Pastebin)
avogadro.xyz (55.1 KB)
(This file loads and displays the first frame)
Any help would be appreciated

You should certainly update to either 1.99 packages, grab a nightly build from https://two.avogadro.cc or wait until 1.100 is released soon.

BTW, animations are now available in the toolbar, not the menu.

But I’d upgrade, because there’s been a lot of improvements in 3 years.

Thanks for the reply. I am writing an xyz file that looks like this:

at_number

symb1 x1 y1 z1
symb2 x2 y2 z2
.
.
.
symbat_number xat_number yat_number zat_number

at_number

symb1 x1 y1 z1
symb2 x2 y2 z2
.
.
.

avogadro inhales the file. I’m guessing that it’s the animations are activated by the clock iocn on the tool bar.

I am looking for a place to download version 1.99, but the Avogadro sight says that this is for windows and Mac, yet ubumtu has a package. What am i missing?

Since you’re on Ubuntu if I was you I’d use the current nightly AppImage.

Just download from the link, unzip it, and double-click it to run. :slight_smile:
