Avogadro 1.94 Released

We are pleased to announce the latest release of Avogadro, including piles of
bug fixes and feature enhancements.

As part of the release, we’ve made it easier to download scripts and data,
including new input generators, molecule fragments, and build and analysis
commands. These scripts make it much easier to integrate Avogadro with many
open source chemistry Python tools, including RDKit, ASE, etc.

Draft developer documentation can be found at https://two.avogadro.cc

Thank you for announcing the release of Avogadro2 v. 1.94.

I am trying to compile from source on Linux Mint 20.1 64-bit Xfce (based on Ubuntu 20.04. I get to nearly the end when it is building the avogadro application. It then keeps throwing the following error:

/usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libSM.so: undefined reference to uuid_generate@UUID_1.0' /usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libSM.so: undefined reference to uuid_unparse_lower@UUID_1.0’
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

Thanks for any suggestions you might have for solving this problem.

A little search shows that it’s not uncommon:

Hopefully one of those can help out…

Yes, thanks. I had found these (and many others!) already and tried the suggested solutions, all to no avail thus far.

I will keep trying …

In the meantime, you might try the Flatpak… I’m sure the Debichem team will create a package fairly soon - they’re usually pretty fast.
