August 2026 Plugin Updates

I decided it would be good to separate new and updated plugins into a separate thread:

New Plugins

All available through the “Manage Plugins…” dialog (currently 28 total)

• openclatura structure => IUPAC name
  • useful for compound naming without a network connection to PubChem
• xyzrender to SVG, PDF, GIF
  • I’m also working with the developer for improved support through CJSON including orbitals and surfaces
• Packmol
• Intrinsic Bond Orbitals via Psi4
• OpenConf conformer searching
• Auto3d conformer searching
• MolFidget export to 3D Printing

Build Changes

I also implemented an anonymous download counter. The GUI will get a redirect from plugins.avogadro.cc which simply adds a count for a particular plugin and then downloads from GitHub. No IP tracking, no personal information, no cookies.

The new plugin index (which updates once a day) now has data like:
"downloads": {"total": 5, "recent": 5, "window-days": 180}}

This will shortly go into the UI for continuous builds.
