Summer of Code 2012 is a Go!

Not surprisingly, Google is sponsoring Summer of Code 2012 again.

Feb 27th - Mentoring Organizations can start submitting applications
Mar 9th - Deadline for Mentoring Organization Submissions

I’d really like to see Avogadro (and related projects) get a Summer of Code student or two. We’ve been lucky in the past, have several possible mentors, and a good track record with student projects.

Maybe we should start brainstorming suggested projects?

Are you still thinking about a Blue Obelisk group as we discussed
previously? I was the admin for VTK last year, and would love to see
our work in open source chemistry get some more students working on
it. I feel like the choice of all Blue Obelisk would be good, but they
limit new orgs to two slots.
