I have just been accepted as a Mentor for Google Summer of Code. This means
that I can now see all applications for KDE including all for Avogadro.
Currently, 2 students applied for Avogadro.
Both applied for “3D editor for Kalzium”. I am in contact with both and am
awaiting at least one more application for the same thing. I still have no
clue how many SoCs KDE or kdeedu will get so I don’t know if any of these
application will succeed.

Ok, things are crazy now We have 6 (six!) applications now, I think five
of them already officially send to google. All in all, KDE has currently 78
applications.
I will try to find out if I am allowed to send you details so that we can
discuss which application is best.

Hey
As all but one applicatino will fail I added this text to all applications. I
hope that the students send in more applications for chemistry as I really
see the chemistry-desktop in reach with Strigi and Nepomuk.
This is the text for the students:
======================================================
As there are several applications for a molecular 3D-feature you can expect
all but one to be rejected. It is even possible, that all will be rejected.
Therefore, I would like to remind you about the chemistry-feature in Strigi
project.
For more details consider
http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Summer_of_Code/2007/Ideas#Strigi:_chemistry_and_biology_support
please.
Remember, you can send up to 20 applications so you won’t loose anything by
sending an alternative.
