Open Babel 2.2 required?

When we were developing Avogadro 0.1, we required the SVN version of
OB-2.1.

Now I’m wondering if we’re at a point where we should require the SVN
version of OB-2.2 to build Avogadro. For example, the #define
OBPatched is really about freezing atoms to the force field, and
that’s in the SVN trunk of Open Babel.

Similarly, more changes are going in the force field engines, and I
could really use a construct in version 2.2 which lets me list all
the force fields easily. (It even saves them to a std::vector so I
can construct the pop-up menu.)

Granted, I don’t think version 2.2 has received enough testing yet –
some of the bugs in the Avogadro bug tracker are really Open Babel
bugs. But to me, this seems like a good idea.

Thoughts? Complaints?

Cheers,
-Geoff

For the ribbon code I am working on it also requires some of the latest fixes
that you have put in OpenBabel’s SVN trunk. I would certainly be in favour so
that the ribbon stuff will just work.

BUMP IT!
