Hello / Multi-Threaded / Release

First off, hello all i’m back from tour and conferences and starting back to
work. This is just Friday and i didn’t do much all day until some people on
IRC started chatting, now i’m motivated.

On a side note: if you haven’t tried out the bondcentric branch that the three
guys have been working on, please do, it’s amazing. They set out with a
gameplan and have implemented some really useful and visually pleasing work.
The bond tool does an amazing job of providing information and other things.
Also some arc drawing and transparent filling. Really really cool. Now,
guys, lets get this merged into trunk, as it relates to the last thing i’m
going to say.

The multithreaded_opengl branch has been merged back into the trunk. If you
have changes to that branch, please merge them manually before your commit.
Try to make no more commits to that branch… If you have it checked out and
for some reason you can’t do a svn switch and don’t know how to merge
yourself, please commit and send me an email and i’ll do the merge back to
trunk.

I want another release soon. Like, ASAP… but we have a huge checklist and i
hate to rush a release, plus we won’t have a mac version if Geoff isn’t
around which is a big thing for me. He’s getting married i think, so
congrats on that. Anyone else have a mac and can start working on the
package? Maybe he’s not tied down enough yet to at least send a bit of info.
Anyways, i’ll spend some time this weekend looking at the wiki TODO and
seeing what we “really” need to have for the 0.2 release. I know I want that
bond tool in there so like i said before, PLEASE merge to trunk so we can
start testing and I can make the release tag. If any of you guys can do some
bug fixing and/or testing that would be great. Anything i’m missing feel
free to write back. The new features are amazing really cool stuff. Glad
to be back. Hope all is well.

For FOSS there is the saying “release early, release often”. In case
the merge of the bond-stuff will takes more then just a few days we
could simply release 0.20 early next week and 0.30 (that again with
Mac-support if Geoff finds the time) two weeks later.

I offer to create the package for the Novell BuildService. That would
then generate RPMs for at least OpenSUSE 10.2 and 10.3.
