Just found that trough Google :

Letting the list know that I got answers from Louis Ricard –
preventing that
somebody else does the same work. Thanks a lot Louis! Also your
suggestions
for correction/improvement of existing translations are very welcome!

After Louis’ help, I still need help on the following strings:

“Force Parallel Methods”
“Force a Check Run Type”

Also:
“Double Differenced Hessian”: I don’t understand, the Hessian is by
definition
a matrix of double-differenced functions. So in that string, is
"double
differenced" just redundant, or does it really mean that you again
differentiate twice (thus obtain fourth order derivatives??) I am
very much
tempted to believe the former! Also, is this about the Hessian
matrix or
Hessian determinant? In French that makes a difference because the
matrix
is “Hessienne” and the determinant is “Hessien”. In absence of
clarification
I’ll assume it’s the matrix, and it’s not again differentiated
twice more, so
I’ll translate the whole string as just “Hessienne”.

“Use Form”: does here the Form designate a set of textedits in
which the user
inputs data as if he were filling an administrative form? If yes
indeed “Formulaire” is appropriate.

Cheers,
Benoit

multiple”.

  1. Force Parallel Methods

Should I understand that as "Force usage of those methods that are
called ‘Parallel’ "?

  1. Parallel Load Balance Type

  1. Force a Check Run Type

  1. AO Integral Storage

AO = OA, orbitales atomiques; méthode de stockages
des intégrales.

  1. Integral Retention Cutoff:

Limite de prise en compte des orbitales.

  1. Two Phase Bin Sort

  1. Double Differenced Hessian

Is this the Hessian matrix as there?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hessian_matrix

Probablement “Formulaire”.

Autres remarques :
l’usage veut que Z-matrix se traduise par Matrice Z ;
les dialogues;

Joli travail .

Cordialement,

  							Louis

Hi list,

there are 9 strings remaining untranslated, and they have been
there
for a
very long time. Could you please explain me what they mean? Often,
what
blocks me is that I can’t tell which word is a verb, which is a
noun…
because in English such ambiguity is frequent.

“Force Parallel Methods”
“Force a Check Run Type”

I think Louis’s comments here are accurate. (My French is rusty, but
it looks decent.)

A “check” run in GAMESS simply validates the input. (This is useful if
you think the job might take a few days to run.)
Parallel methods are intended to run as multi-core or multi-processor.
It’s not actually MPI – GAMESS developed its own system before MPI
became a standard. (DDI / ddikick).

Also:
“Double Differenced Hessian”:

This is the Hessian matrix. I think the “Double Differenced” is
redundant.

“Use Form”: does here the Form designate a set of textedits in

Yes, you can either set the checkboxes in the dialog, or if you know
what you’re doing, you can edit the text directly. I think
"Formulaire" is a good translation – it’s administrative, since the
program will reject your input if it’s incorrect. (Plus, I find it
tedious sometimes.)

LaserJock was suggesting we may need to set up a "translation team"
sometime soon. I think it might be good to call this a “chemistry
translation team,” since both Kalzium and Avogadro (and possibly
others) would benefit.

Cheers,
-Geoff

I would gladly participate, if my English can follow.
I am a bit skeptical sometimes, mainly with theoretical
chemistry terminology!

A team including people from various horizons would be
great.

Thanks to Louis, Geoff, and Google, the french translation is now 100%
complete and existing strings were improved

I won’t be able to keep maintainership of it in the future so the use of
Launchpad is welcome – alternatively, to Louis: Qt linguist is easy and fun
to use, just do “make update-translations” in your builddir, then go to
srcdir and do “linguist i18n/avogadro_fr.ts”.

Benoit
