Following up on [my previous thread](https://discuss.avogadro.cc/t/a-nightly-flatpak/7530), this is to announce that the `beta` branch of the Flatpak, hosted on the Flathub Beta repository, is going to be deprecated after the imminent `v2.1` release. It will be updated to `v2.1.0` at the same time as the `stable` branch, but will not be updated further.\[1\]

Its functional replacement will be a self-hosted `nightly` Flatpak branch, implemented as proposed in the other post, which I think better suits Avogadro’s development model and its community.

I’ll update the installation instructions on the website, and the READMEs in the various repos, as appropriate once I’ve got the nightly up and running.

If anyone currently uses the `beta` and feels that a nightly build is a poor fit for their use-case, let me know.

1. I might make an exception if there are any important bug fix releases, i.e. a `v2.1.1`, especially if they have security patches. But there won’t be semi-regular updates, and `v2.2.0` will almost certainly never hit the `beta` branch.
